Adding unsubscribe and view online links to your e-mail campaign

Every e-mail campaign you send must contain a simple one-click unsubscribe link

Suite26 provides an easy way for you to insert your unsubscribe link and allows you to customise the link text as required.

Inserting Unsubscribe Link

You can manually enter the link code if required.   It should look like:

[unsubscribe]Click here to unsubscribe from our list[/unsubscribe]

The text in between the square brackets will be the text that becomes the link and you are free to change that to suit your requirements.  For example:

To stop receiving our newsletters [unsubscribe]just click here to unsubscribe[/unsubscribe]

Suite26 will automatically turn this code into a unique per recipient unsubscribe link when sending your campaign.

For plain text e-mails the text placed in between square brackets will be shown before the unsubscribe link.  So the resulting output would look like:

Click here to unsubscribe from our list http://lists.suite26.net/unsubscribe/1234 etc.

You can use the Insert Special Tag facility when adding/editing your campaign content instead of having to remember the syntax of the unsubscribe link.

Please Note: Some web browsers will insert the code at the cursor positon in the content area whilst others will place it at the bottom of the content.  Depending on the browser you use you may need to reposition the special piece of code as required.

Inserting View Online Link

The View Online link allows a recipient to click the link and have the e-mail displayed in their web browser instead of their e-mail client.  As with the unsubscribe link, it needs to be unique to each recipient so that tracking can be recorded sucessfully.

The link is added in exactly the same way as the unsubscribe link and behaves in the same way.  An example would be:

[viewonline]Click here to view this e-mail in your web browser[/viewonline]

As with the unsubscribe link, this too can be inserted using the Insert Special Tag facility when adding/editing your campaign content.

Please Note: Some web browsers will insert the code at the cursor positon in the content area whilst others will place it at the bottom of the content.  Depending on the browser you use you may need to reposition the special piece of code as required.

By default the View Online link provided will open the current format in a web browser.   This means if the user receives the HTML version of your campaign and clicks the View Online link they will see the HTML version in the web browser and if they receive the TEXT version they will see the TEXT version in their web browser.

In some circumstances you may want to override this behaviour.   For example, you may wish to provide a View Online link to the HTML version for users who receive your campaign in TEXT version.  To accomplish this simply modify your link as shown below:

[viewonline:HTML]Click here to view the HTML version in your web browser[/viewonline:HTML]

[viewonline:TEXT]Click here to view the TEXT version in your web browser[/viewonline:TEXT]
