4 things to always include on your emails

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Including the following four tips will help you engage with your recipients better, maintain their trust and get those images displaying.

At the top of your email:

Remind them why they are receiving your email
You are receiving this email...
-Because you are a customer of X.
-Because you signed up to X newsletter.
-Because you are a subscriber to X emails.

This will help the recipient immediately recognise who you are and remind them why they are getting the email.

Use a Viewonline Link to help display blocked and unloaded images
Most mail clients will not display the images on your email, so inserting a viewonline link at the top of your email will help encourage recipients to open up the email in a new web browser page. This will display all the content and images in full.

Try including:
-Problem seeing the images? [viewonline]Click here to view this email in your web browser [/viewonline].
-Images not displaying? [viewonline]View the full email online here [/viewonline].

This will help to get the email opened and avoid recipients possibly ignoring or deleting the email because they’ve been put off by the email looking incomplete.

At the bottom of your email:

Include full company details
Always include your company name, address and contact details at the foot of your email. This will help you build and maintain trust with the recipient. Emails without full company details can look illegitimate and untrust worthy, which could lead to the email being marked as spam.

Make the unsubscribe link easy to find
Avoid burying the unsubscribe link amongst a paragraph of text or changing its colour so that it doesn’t clearly stand out against your email’s background colour. If a recipient is no longer interested in receiving your emails, make it easy for them to locate the unsubscribe link, rather than running the risk of the recipient getting annoyed and marking the email as spam.

**SERVICE UPDATE** Maintenance Completed

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Maintenance work on the Suite26 servers at the Data Centre has now been completed.

The sending systems are now back up and should be gradually coming back up to full speed again.

Thank you for your patients.

**SERVICE UPDATE** Delayed Maintenance Completion Time

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Due to an foreseen incident at the data centre this morning where the technicians are working on the Suite26 servers, Suite26 is unfortunately not going to be back up and running today.

New RAM for a physical server at our data centre was meant to delivered and installed at 9.00 this morning, but the courier company got there too early when the Data Centre was still closed, and so left without waiting to leave it with the reception.

Our technicians got there at 9.30 to collect and install the RAM to help resolve the sending issues, but were unable to add the extra required RAM.

We have been on the phones to the courier company all morning expressing our dissatisfaction with them as well as trying to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Delivery has been rescheduled for this afternoon and we are now trying to arrange for the technicians to get there to do the work as soon as possible.

We can only apologise for this for unforeseen mishap, and also for any further inconvenience this causes you.

Further updates to follow.

**SERVICE UPDATE** Suite26 Maintenance

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

The current maintenance work being carried out on the sending system is expected to be completed, all back up and running normally by 1pm today.

A high volume of emails is expected to be scheduled for dispatch around 1pm today, so we would advise holding off sending any cmpaigns until later on today, or even tomorrow if possible.

**SERVICE UPDATE** Suite26 Down For Maintenance

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Please note we have taken Suite26 down today for emergency maintenance to the sending mechanisms. We envisage this will be down for at least 24 hours, though we will keep you updated on the developments.

You should still be able to login and create email campaigns as normal, but you will not be able to send any emails until further notice.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please look out for further service updates.

Thank you.

Six tips for using images in email

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Nowadays, more and more emails are displaying in the inbox with images switched off or asking to be downloaded.

Don’t let this turn you off using images in your email campaigns and newsletters. Instead carefully select and use relevant images that support the body content, message or article rather than using the image as the main focus of the email.  Use images to illustrate your message, rather use any old potentially eye-catching picture, just for the sake of having an image on there.

Here are 6 simple tips when using images in your email:

1. Don't embed or attach images - This can create delivery issues. Instead, have your images hosted on your server or on Suite26’s.

2. Fill in the alternative text in your image tags – This is what will appear where images are turned off and before they’re downloaded.

3. Avoid using one big image - This can result in your email looking completely blank if images are switched off!

4. Always use a view-online link - Always include a link at the top of your email that clicks through to an online version of the email in the recipient's web browser. This is will automatically display all the content and images.

5. Your content should refer to any featured pictures. This lets the recipient know what they're missing visually, and encourages them to download the images.

6. Always test your emails before sending to see how they look with images on and off.
